Our Journey
The Spot team is Daniel, Apphia, and Clover—two humans and one clumber spaniel. We have called Portugal home for a few years, a much-needed change of pace after many years in London.
While construction was underway on the café and rooms, we opened our first café, Spot na Serra, in the Serra do Caldeirão (2023-2024). This amazing adventure allowed us to meet many wonderful customers and the great coffee roasters we still work with, and planted the seed for Spot Local.
On one of our many visits to Portugal, we fell in love with the land on which Spot Local now sits.
After years of planning our travels around good coffee and exciting eateries, we decided to create our own little spot on this beautiful land.
Great coffee, food and wine in the middle of nature.
Spot Local is a place to take a pause, whether for a cup of coffee or for a week-long stay. We invite you to enjoy our beautiful land, along with some of the best coffee and tea around, homemade cakes and savoury light bites, a curated selection of wines and house-made cocktails and mocktails.
The café and sete oliveiras terrace are social spaces, where conversation is encouraged.
